HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Kathy Blair for being 
4named the 2024 Gurnee Days Honoree; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Kathy Blair has been a resident of Gurnee since 
61988 when she and her late husband, Troy, bought their first 
7home in the village; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Kathy Blair dedicated her time to raising her two 
9children, Kevin and Cassidy, as well as volunteering at and 
10attending the Village Church of Gurnee; she assisted in 
11classrooms at schools in the Woodland School District, 
12completed her education degree, and then taught at Woodland 
13Middle School for many years; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Kathy Blair and her husband, Troy, were inspired 
15by a business model and culture that aligned with their 
16family's goals and beliefs and opened their own Nothing Bundt 
17Cakes store in 2018; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Kathy Blair's passion for service and her 
19community led her to partner with over 40 non-profit 
20organizations, including the Gurnee Women's Business 
21Association, the Gurnee Exchange Club, and other local groups;

2    WHEREAS, Kathy Blair remained determined to continue 
3giving back to the Gurnee community after the loss of her 
4husband, Troy, in March of 2024 to honor the resilience, 
5support, and stability he provided her; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Kathy Blair exemplifies the selfless service to 
7the community that the Village of Gurnee and the Gurnee Park 
8District celebrate at the Honoree Reception; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
10HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
11we congratulate Kathy Blair for being named the 2024 Gurnee 
12Days Honoree; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable a copy of this resolution be 
14presented to Kathy Blair as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
