HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate the officers of the Ogle
4County Sheriff's Office for their courageous work at the gated
5community of Lost Lake on June 12, 2024; and
 
6    WHEREAS, At 8:40 a.m., police were informed that a man
7living in the 400 block of Wild Rice Lane was having suicidal
8and homicidal ideations; the sheriff's office promptly
9dispatched officers to the location; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Upon arriving at the house shortly after 9 a.m.,
11deputies learned that the man was armed with multiple
12firearms; this prompted the Ogle County authorities to
13activate its emergency response team, which arrived on the
14scene about 10:20 a.m.; and
 
15    WHEREAS, After more than an hour of attempted calls made
16by negotiators to the suspect's phone, the sheriff's office
17made the decision to enter the residence; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Members of the emergency response team attempted
19to enter the residence shortly before noon, immediately
20encountering gun fire before incapacitating the suspect; the
21emergency team located the suspect inside the front door with

1multiple firearms, a blade, pepper spray, and ballistic armor;
2and
 
3    WHEREAS, During the fire fight, two response team members,
4Sergeant Tad Dominski and Lieutenant Jason Ketter, were
5wounded while another, Tactical Officer Tyler Carls, was
6struck in the armor; Carls and Dominski were transported to
7KSB Hospital in Dixon, where they were treated and released
8while Ketter was flown to OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in
9Rockford where he underwent surgery; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
11HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
12we congratulate the brave officers of the Ogle County
13Sheriff's Office for their valiant actions on June 12, 2024
14and honor Officers Dominski, Ketter, and Carls for their
15heroic sacrifice; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
17presented to Officers Dominski, Ketter, and Carls and the Ogle
18County Sheriff's Office as an expression of our profound
19respect and gratitude.
