Amends the Environmental Protection Act. Provides that, notwithstanding any other provision of law, use of a refrigerant is not prohibited or otherwise limited if the refrigerant is identified as a safe alternative under a specified federal statute and is contained within equipment that is listed and installed in accordance with specified federal safety standards and use conditions. Effective immediately.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Environmental Protection Act is amended by |
| 5 | | adding Section 9.19 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (415 ILCS 5/9.19 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 9.19. Refrigerants. Notwithstanding any other |
| 8 | | provision of law, use of a refrigerant is not prohibited or |
| 9 | | otherwise limited if (i) the refrigerant is identified as a |
| 10 | | safe alternative under 42 U.S.C. 7671k and (ii) the |
| 11 | | refrigerant is contained within equipment that is listed and |
| 12 | | installed in accordance with safety standards and use |
| 13 | | conditions imposed under 42 U.S.C. 7671k and the rules set |
| 14 | | forth in 40 CFR 82.84.

| 15 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 16 | | becoming law.
