| 1 | AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 2608 | ||||||
| 2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 2608 by replacing | ||||||
| 3 | everything after the enacting clause with the following: | ||||||
| 4 | "Section 5. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by | ||||||
| 5 | adding Section 10-4-13 as follows: | ||||||
| 6 | (65 ILCS 5/10-4-13 new) | ||||||
| 7 | Sec. 10-4-13. Credit history of applicants. | ||||||
| 8 | (a) An applicant's credit history may not be used to | ||||||
| 9 | prevent the employment of a police officer in the City of | ||||||
| 10 | Chicago. | ||||||
| 11 | (b) This Section does not apply to employment actions | ||||||
| 12 | performed under a collective bargaining agreement in effect on | ||||||
| 13 | the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 103rd General | ||||||
| 14 | Assembly. A collective bargaining agreement that conflicts | ||||||
| 15 | with subsection (a) may not be entered into, modified, or | ||||||
| 16 | extended on or after the effective date of this amendatory Act | ||||||

| 1 | of the 103rd General Assembly. | ||||||
| 2 | (c) The City of Chicago may not take employment actions or | ||||||
| 3 | enter into, modify, or extend collective bargaining agreements | ||||||
| 4 | in a manner inconsistent with this Section. This Section is a | ||||||
| 5 | limitation under subsection (i) of Section 6 of Article VII of | ||||||
| 6 | the Illinois Constitution on the concurrent exercise by home | ||||||
| 7 | rule units of powers and functions exercised by the State.". | ||||||
