AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 2608 

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 2608 by replacing 
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4    "Section 5. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by 
5adding Section 10-4-13 as follows:
 
6    (65 ILCS 5/10-4-13 new)
7    Sec. 10-4-13. Credit history of applicants. 
8    (a) An applicant's credit history may not be used to 
9prevent the employment of a police officer in the City of 
10Chicago.
11    (b) This Section does not apply to employment actions 
12performed under a collective bargaining agreement in effect on 
13the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 103rd General 
14Assembly. A collective bargaining agreement that conflicts 
15with subsection (a) may not be entered into, modified, or 
16extended on or after the effective date of this amendatory Act

1of the 103rd General Assembly.
2    (c) The City of Chicago may not take employment actions or 
3enter into, modify, or extend collective bargaining agreements 
4in a manner inconsistent with this Section. This Section is a 
5limitation under subsection (i) of Section 6 of Article VII of 
6the Illinois Constitution on the concurrent exercise by home 
7rule units of powers and functions exercised by the State.".
