SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
415 ILCS 5/22.24  from Ch. 111 1/2, par. 1022.24

    Amends the Environmental Protection Act. Provides that, beginning on January 1, 2025, landfills in counties with a population over 250,000 (rather than landfills in counties with a population over 275,000) shall provide and operate facilities to clean the wheels and undercarriages of vehicles departing the landfill.

1    AN ACT concerning safety.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Environmental Protection Act is amended by
5changing Section 22.24 as follows:
 
6    (415 ILCS 5/22.24)  (from Ch. 111 1/2, par. 1022.24)
7    Sec. 22.24. (a) Beginning January 1, 2025 1990, no person
8may operate any landfill in any county with a population over
9250,000 275,000, as determined by the latest federal decennial
10census, unless facilities are provided at such landfills which
11are appropriate for cleaning mud, gravel, waste and other
12material from the site off of the wheels and undercarriages of
13trucks and other vehicles exiting the site.
14    (b) Beginning January 1, 2025 1990, no person may drive
15any truck or trailer off the site of a landfill in any county
16with a population over 250,000 275,000, as determined by the
17latest federal decennial census, without first cleaning any
18mud, gravel, waste or other material from the site off of the
19wheels and undercarriage of the vehicle.
