SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Robert L. "Bob" Bennett of Annawan,
4who passed away on February 10, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bob Bennett was born to Lane and Iva (Olson)
6Bennett in Onida, South Dakota on September 12, 1930; he
7graduated from Brandon High School in Brandon, Minnesota; he
8was drafted into the U.S. Marine Corps and served from 1952 to
91954; he married Elizabeth "Betty" Girten in Geneseo, Illinois
10on April 5, 1963; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Bob Bennett worked for Growmark, retiring as a
12sales manager in 1994; during his time with Growmark, he
13worked at Christian County F.S., Montgomery County F.S., and
14Henry County F.S.; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Bob Bennett was a member of Ware's Grove Church
16in Butler and VFW Post 7176 in Annawan; he held many offices in
17all of his activities; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Bob Bennett loved softball, coaching several
19girls' softball teams and playing on a men's softball team
20until the age of 62; and

1    WHEREAS, Bob Bennett was preceded in death by his parents;
2his brothers, Lorrell and Norris Bennett; and his sister,
3LaVon Rapp; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Bob Bennett is survived by his wife, Betty; his
5children, Kandy Hege, Kristy Ross, Gary Bennett, and Judy
6Nelson; his grandchildren, Kameron, Kellyanne, Austin,
7Jennifer, Amanda, Brittney, Craig, Chris, Curt, and Catherine;
8his seven great-grandchildren; his twin sister, Betty Lou
9Vandegraff; his sister, Mary Lee Marsh; his sister-in-law,
10Linda Bennett; and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be
11it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Robert L. "Bob" Bennett and extend our sincere condolences to
15his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Bob Bennett as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
