SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Edgar George "Bud" Hoener of Sutter,
4who passed away on February 19, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bud Hoener was born to George and Freda M.
6(Hufendick) Hoener on the family farm in Hancock County on
7August 21, 1934; he graduated as valedictorian of his 8th
8grade class and attended high school through Christmas
9vacation of his sophomore year; he served in the U.S. Army from
101957 to 1959, where he was a guard at Spandau Prison; he
11married Carolyn "Sue" Smyser at the Emerson Baptist Church in
12Emerson, Missouri on October 20, 1963; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Bud Hoener was a farmer for his entire life; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Bud Hoener was a member of Bethany United
15Christian Church in Tioga; in his younger years, he enjoyed
16going to the Crystal Ball Skating Rink in Carthage and
17participated in skate shows; he was an excellent woodworker,
18could play the piano by ear, and was a prolific traveler,
19visiting all 48 continental states; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Bud Hoener valued family as his top priority, and
21he attended all of his children and grandchildren's sports,

1orchestra, band, and school activities; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Bud Hoener was preceded in death by his parents;
3his sisters, Marie (Pete) Frey, Naomi (Little) Griffin, and
4Pauline Hoener; and his daughter-in-law, Gloria Hoener; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bud Hoener is survived by his wife, Carolyn "Sue"
6Hoener; his sons, Douglas Hoener and Gregory (Kathy) Hoener
7Sr.; his daughter, Tammy Hoener; his grandchildren, Bryce
8(Olivia) Hoener, Allyson (Joshua) Hetzler, Kayla (fiancé, Owen
9Shelton) Hoener, Michael (Richlyn) Hoener, Gregory (Megan)
10Hoener Jr., Thomas (Lexis) Hoener, and Amber Hoener; his
11great-grandchildren, Callum, Liam, Ricky, Bennett, and Ember;
12and his numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be
13it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Edgar George "Bud" Hoener and extend our sincere condolences
17to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
18it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Bud Hoener as an expression of our
21deepest sympathy.
