SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Rodger Meeker of Manito, formerly of
4Green Valley, who passed away on February 26, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Rodger Meeker was born to Robert G. and Bernadine
6C. Weyhrich Meeker in Burlington, Iowa on December 8, 1949; he
7served in the U.S. Army; he married Rayeann Poplette on
8January 24, 1970; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Rodger Meeker worked at Evonik Industries in
10Mapleton and farmed in Tazewell and Mason Counties; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Rodger Meeker attended Christ Lutheran Church in
12Delavan as a child; he was also a member of the Manito American
13Legion; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Rodger Meeker was an avid hunter and fisherman,
15and he was also a full supporter of the military; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Rodger Meeker will be remembered for his smile,
17his great heart, and his willingness to help family and
18friends, if needed; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Rodger Meeker was preceded in death by his

1parents; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Rodger Meeker is survived by his children, David
3L. Meeker, Denise (Jon) Baker, and Dustin (Angela) Meeker; his
4grandchildren, Alyssa (Jessica) Choate, Blake (fiancée,
5Brittany Bollman) Lelm, Jax Meeker, Jordyn Meeker, Morgan
6Baker, and Ethan Baker; his brother, Robert (Diane) Meeker;
7his sisters, Jayne (John) Simpson, Rusa Naylor, and Joy
8{Ricky) Pfortmiller; his many nieces and nephews; and his
9beloved dog, Dex; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Rodger Meeker and extend our sincere condolences to his
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Rodger Meeker as an expression of
17our deepest sympathy.
