| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Armina Elmas "Steffie" Kazarian of | ||||||
| 4 | Lake Forest, who passed away on February 3, 2023; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Armina Kazarian was born to Abram and Elmas | ||||||
| 6 | Bedrosian in Chicago on January 18, 1930; she grew up in | ||||||
| 7 | Chicago and Milwaukee; she graduated from Lincoln High School; | ||||||
| 8 | she earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of | ||||||
| 9 | Wisconsin and her Master of Arts from Roosevelt University in | ||||||
| 10 | Chicago;
after college, she married John Kazar Kazarian, and | ||||||
| 11 | they raised five children in Lake Bluff and Lake Forest; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Armina Kazarian taught high school math in | ||||||
| 13 | Waukegan for over 20 years, where she was known for her | ||||||
| 14 | tenacity in the classroom and her dedication to her students; | ||||||
| 15 | and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Armina Kazarian enjoyed playing bridge and tennis | ||||||
| 17 | with friends and backgammon with her husband, children, and | ||||||
| 18 | grandchildren; she traveled widely to Australia, China, Tibet, | ||||||
| 19 | Europe, and to her ancestral homeland of Armenia; she loved | ||||||
| 20 | the theater and volunteered as an usher to see as many shows as | ||||||
| 21 | possible; and

| 1 | WHEREAS, Armina Kazarian was affectionately known as | ||||||
| 2 | "Mimi" to her grandchildren; she will be remembered as a | ||||||
| 3 | loving
daughter, sister, wife, mother, teacher, grandmother, | ||||||
| 4 | and friend to many; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Armina Kazarian was preceded in death by her | ||||||
| 6 | eldest son, John Jr., and her husband of 66 years, John; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Armina Kazarian is survived by her children, | ||||||
| 8 | Stephanie (Brian) Kearney, Jacqueline (Peter Cunningham) | ||||||
| 9 | Kazarian, Gregory (Kim) Kazarian, and Stacey (Jim) Lareau; her | ||||||
| 10 | grandchildren, Kevin (Elizabeth) Kearney, Briana (Tony | ||||||
| 11 | Cappell) Kearney, Sima (Dorian Gehring) Cunningham, Liam | ||||||
| 12 | Cunningham, John T. Kazarian, Alexandra Kazarian, Kenneth | ||||||
| 13 | Kazarian, Samara Lareau, and Jackson Lareau; and her | ||||||
| 14 | great-grandchildren, Robbie, Margot, Brian, and Zulal; | ||||||
| 15 | therefore, be it

| 16 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
| 17 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
| ||||||
| 18 | Armina Elmas "Steffie" Kazarian and extend our sincere
| ||||||
| 19 | condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
| ||||||
| 20 | her; and be it further
| ||||||
| 21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

| 22 | presented to the family of Armina Kazarian as an expression of
