2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Terrence Lamont Hurst of Springfield, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on March 19, 2023; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Terrence Hurst was born to Phineas F. and Gloria | ||||||
6 | J. (Grimes) Hurst in Centreville on July 31, 1964; as a child, | ||||||
7 | he moved with his parents to Springfield; he was a member of | ||||||
8 | St. John AME Church, where he committed to his faith at an | ||||||
9 | early age, was baptized, and became an active youth member; he | ||||||
10 | graduated from Lanphier High School in 1982, where he enjoyed | ||||||
11 | all sports and excelled in track and field; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Terrence Hurst served as a munitions systems | ||||||
13 | technician in the U.S. Air Force for nine years, during which | ||||||
14 | he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan; he ended his military | ||||||
15 | service at Andrews Air Force Base in Suitland, Maryland with | ||||||
16 | an honorable discharge in 1992; and | ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Shortly after being discharged from the U.S. Air | ||||||
18 | Force, Terrence Hurst returned home, where he began a new | ||||||
19 | career as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, After his military career, Terrence Hurst | ||||||
21 | continued indulging his love of travel as a member of the Hooch |

1 | Riders Motorcycle Club; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Terrence Hurst was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and | ||||||
3 | also cheered for the Fighting Illini; he loved cooking and was | ||||||
4 | considered a grill master, with his specialties being ribs and | ||||||
5 | smothered potatoes with onions; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, For all of his hobbies and passions, Terrence | ||||||
7 | Hurst loved his family above all else and relished spending | ||||||
8 | time with them; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Terrence Hurst was preceded in death by his | ||||||
10 | father; his grandmothers, Carona Grimes and Arnett Daniel; his | ||||||
11 | grandfather, John Daniel; and many close relatives; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Terrence Hurst is survived by his former wife, | ||||||
13 | Kemie Hurst; his daughters, Randal L. Hurst and Armecia D. | ||||||
14 | Banks; his mother; his sisters, Felicia L. Burton (Shane) and | ||||||
15 | Monica D. Williams (Calvin); his grandchildren, Roman R. | ||||||
16 | Acres, Cain Q. Acres, Xyaire R. Acres, Nia L. Acres, and Teagan | ||||||
17 | J. Acres; his brother/cousin, Darren F. Grimes; his | ||||||
18 | sister/cousin, Farrah C. (Purnell) Borders; his nieces, | ||||||
19 | Kendall A. Hurst, Kalyn J. Burton, and Amber L. Williams; his | ||||||
20 | nephew, Jaaron Z. Williams; his aunt, Mildred J. Grimes; his | ||||||
21 | uncles, James E. Grimes and Stanley (Jackie) Singleton; and a | ||||||
22 | host of other family and friends; therefore, be it

1 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
2 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
3 | Terrence Lamont Hurst and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
4 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
5 | further

6 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
7 | presented to the family of Terrence Hurst as an expression of | ||||||
8 | our deepest sympathy.
