SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3congratulate Jeremy Swerling on his retirement and commend him
4for his professional career with the Danville Symphony
5Orchestra (DSO) for 28 years, contributing to its artistic and
6financial success; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Jeremy Swerling has brought the DSO from being a
8semi-professional orchestra to a fully professional regional
9orchestra, which is now comparable with or surpasses other
10regional orchestras in Illinois and western Indiana; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Jeremy Swerling has attracted and developed a
12corps of dedicated musicians, fostering collaboration with
13other Danville arts organizations, creating educational
14opportunities for youth, and engaging in community outreach;
15and
 
16    WHEREAS, Jeremy Swerling's devotion, service, and
17connections with Danville community members have contributed
18to building not only the musical excellence of the DSO but also
19ensuring its longevity and financial health; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Jeremy Swerling has become known for his
21stability, professionalism, and artistic vision, which have

1made the DSO a beloved and respected institution in the
2Danville community and beyond; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Jeremy Swerling has announced his retirement as
4music director of the DSO, effective after the final concert
5of the 2022-2023 season; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Jeremy
8Swerling on his retirement and commend him for his decades of
9service to the Danville Symphony Orchestra (DSO) and his
10community; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That we wish Jeremy Swerling a happy and
12fulfilling retirement and a new chapter in his life, knowing
13that he will continue to inspire and enrich the lives of those
14around him; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to Jeremy Swerling as a symbol of our esteem and
17respect.
