SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Howard John Hammer of Altamont, who
4passed away on April 7, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Howard Hammer was born in Altamont to Arnold and
6Olive (Ziegler) Hammer on December 19, 1931; he married
7Carolyn Budde at St. John's Lutheran Church in Louisville on
8June 2, 1957; he served in the U.S. National Guard; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Howard Hammer worked for the Altamont Wholesale
10Company for many years; he also served as a road commissioner
11for Summit Township and was a lifelong farmer; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Howard Hammer was a member of St. Paul Blue Point
13Lutheran Church and American Legion Post #120 Effingham; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Howard Hammer was preceded in death by his
15parents; his brothers, Arlon "Ace" and Norman Hammer; and his
16sister, Audrey Neu; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Howard Hammer is survived by his wife of 66
18years, Carolyn; his sons, Darwin, Chris (Cheri), Mike
19(Brenda), Kelly, and Kirk (Sondra) Hammer; his sisters, Irma
20and Verda Mellendorf; his grandchildren, Gretchen (Cody)

1Hammer, Chrisha (Derrick) Alwardt, Jacob and Jared Hammer,
2Kaile (Ethan) Wolff, Devin (Clare) Hammer, Darcie (Brennan)
3Buening, and Mackenzie (Dunavun) Goeckner; his
4great-grandchildren, Adison and Conner Alwardt, Paisley and
5Talon Ranes, and Grayson and Kynlie Buening; and one
6great-grandchild, Baby Wolff on the way next month; therefore,
7be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Howard John Hammer and extend our sincere condolences to his
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Howard Hammer as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
