SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Shirley Jeanne Harper of Franklin,
4Wisconsin, formerly of Fairfield, who passed away on May 1,
52023; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Shirley Harper was born to Alvin G. Adler and
7Barbara Stewart on April 21, 1935; as a child, she was raised
8by various family members in Wisconsin and Chicago during the
9Great Depression; she married Robert Wicinski, and they had
10six children before divorcing; she later married Lee Harper;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, Shirley and Lee Harper ran a campground in
13southern Illinois, where they hosted square dancing in the
14pavilion, fish fries, pig roasts, and Fall Fun Fest; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Shirley Harper, after the campground closed,
16worked for public aid in Illinois for many years; during her
17tenure, she received great satisfaction in assisting those in
18need and created a family of coworkers; after retiring, she
19moved to Franklin, Wisconsin; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Shirley Harper enjoyed having good conversations
21about the world, history, food, sports, and family updates;

1she loved quilting and created many quilts that were given to
2family and friends; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Shirley Harper was affectionately known as "GG";
4she will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother,
5grandmother, and great-grandmother; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Shirley Harper was preceded in death by her son,
7Steven Wicinski; her parents; and her husband, Lee Harper; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Shirley Harper is survived by her children, Greg
9(Daria) Wicinski, Rhonda (Gary) Shedron, Brian (Mary)
10Wicinski, Michael (Sherry) Wicinski, Therese (Tim) Wicinski
11Shaffer, and Robert Wicinski; her grandchildren, Anthony
12Wicinski, Rachael (Matthew) Unverferth, Keegan (Huijiao
13"Jess") Tomik, Kyle Tomik, Hayden Wicinski, Colton Wicinski,
14Erica (fiancé, Andrew) Wicinski, Alexandrea (partner, Kevin)
15Wicinski, and Devin Wicinski; and her great-grandchildren,
16Haley and Aiden Wicinski, Hudson, Nash, and Wells Unverferth,
17and Riley Woods; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
20Shirley Jeanne Harper and extend our sincere condolences to
21her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
