SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Henry E. "Woody" Kramer, who passed
4away on December 12, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Woody Kramer was born to Mary Rosetta (Roedl) and
6Henry A. Kramer in Altamont on May 19, 1941; he graduated from
7Villa Grove High School in 1959; he attended Springfield
8Junior College for two years before transferring to the
9University of Illinois, earning a degree in English and
10History in 1962; he married Mary Alice Strassburger on January
1125, 1964; he graduated from the University of Illinois College
12of Law in 1965; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Woody Kramer became a partner at the law firm of
14Brainard, Bower & Kramer law in Charleston, where he practiced
15law for nearly 50 years; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Woody Kramer was an active member of the St.
17Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Charleston; he belonged to
18several organizations, including as a 4th Degree Knight of the
19Knights of Columbus, a founding member of the Charleston Area
20Charitable Foundation, and a member of the Charleston Area
21Economic Development Board, the Coles Together Board, the
22Coles County 708 Board, and the Charleston Parks and

1Recreation Board; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Woody Kramer adored his wife, children, and
3grandchildren; he loved mushroom hunting, following the St.
4Louis Cardinals and University of Illinois sports, telling
5stories about a pair of make-believe deer named Deenie &
6Donnie, golfing, gardening, storm chasing, and watching
7sunsets; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Woody Kramer was known, loved, and respected by
9many; he never knew a stranger and made friends wherever he
10went; he will be remembered for his loving kindness, his
11generosity, and for always having time for everyone he met;
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, Woody Kramer was preceded in death by his parents
14and his siblings, Bernie Kramer, Peggy Blanchard, Anita
15Brazzell, and Denise Hassan; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Woody Kramer is survived by his wife of 59 years,
17Mary Alice Kramer; his children, Liane Foerder, Alice (Mike)
18Dutler, Kevin Kramer, Letha (Lisa Watkins) Kramer, Ellen
19(Bryan) Ericson, and Lauren (Ryan Anderson) Kramer; his
20grandchildren, Stephanie (Dustin) Gay, Becca Foerder, Lexi
21Foerder, Christian Dutler, Matthew Dutler, Abby Dutler, Livia
22Kramer, Henry Kramer, Griffin Kramer, Hannah Ericson, Owen

1Ericson, Charlotte Kramer-Watkins, and Isaac Kramer-Watkins;
2and his siblings, Barbara Legner, Tony Kramer, Mary (Peggy
3Johnston) Parker, Anicia Kramer, and Cami (Steve) Pisklak;
4therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Henry E. "Woody" Kramer and extend our sincere condolences to
8his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Woody Kramer as an expression of our
12deepest sympathy.
