SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of David N. Anderson, who passed away on
4July 6, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, David Anderson was born to Silas and Annette
6Anderson in Harrisburg on July 19, 1946; he graduated from
7Harrisburg High School in 1964; he married Elizabeth in
8Decatur on March 15, 1969; and
 
9    WHEREAS, David Anderson worked in radio for ten years
10during the 1960s and early 1970s, spending the first two years
11with his hometown station WEBQ, followed by joining WGGH in
12nearby Marion while attending Southern Illinois University
13Carbondale, and then working at WDZ in Decatur; his final
14position in radio was a stint as news director of
15Springfield's WDBR and WTAX while pursuing a master's degree
16in communications at Sangamon State University, known today as
17the University of Illinois Springfield; and
 
18    WHEREAS, David Anderson was hired as director of public
19affairs for the Illinois State Bar Association in 1974, and he
20maintained that title for 39 years until his retirement;
21during his tenure, he also served in a variety of other posts,
22including associate executive director; and

1    WHEREAS, David Anderson was an exceptional pool player who
2loved stargazing, gardening, solving puzzles, listening to
3music, watching Fourth of July fireworks, and eating barbecue
4and chocolate cake; above all, he loved spending time with his
5family; and
 
6    WHEREAS, David Anderson was a great communicator who was
7known for choosing his words carefully, valuing quality over
8quantity, and he firmly believed in science, fairness, and
9helping others; and
 
10    WHEREAS, David Anderson was preceded in death by his
11parents; and
 
12    WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, David Anderson was
13survived by his wife of 54 years, Elizabeth "Bette" Anderson;
14his children, Matthew Anderson, Sarah Anderson, and Katherine
15(Nicholas) Moore; his grandchildren, Toby, Gabriel, Liliana,
16and Jameson; his sisters, Carolyn, Catherine, and Nancy; and
1710 nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
20David N. Anderson and extend our sincere condolences to his
21family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
