2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of David B. Stolman of Buffalo Grove, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on May 12, 2024; and | ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, David Stolman, the son of Edward and Helen | ||||||
6 | Stolman, was born on November 24, 1948; he attended the | ||||||
7 | University of Illinois and earned his law degree from DePaul | ||||||
8 | University; he became a resident of Buffalo Grove in the | ||||||
9 | mid-1970s, where he resided for nearly 50 years; and | ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, David Stolman was an active investor and a real | ||||||
11 | estate attorney by profession, but his greatest impact came | ||||||
12 | from his dedication to making a difference; his first foray | ||||||
13 | into public service was as a member of the Village of Buffalo | ||||||
14 | Grove's Zoning Board of Appeals; he served Lake County through | ||||||
15 | a variety of elected positions, including as a member of the | ||||||
16 | Lake County Board from 1992 to 2014, as board chairman from | ||||||
17 | 2010 to 2012, and as treasurer from 2014 to 2018; as a member | ||||||
18 | of the county board, he was an advocate for the proposed Route | ||||||
19 | 53 extension into central Lake County and fought to keep the | ||||||
20 | county's budget balanced; as treasurer, he worked to make | ||||||
21 | property owners' tax bills more transparent and developed a | ||||||
22 | comprehensive investment strategy that resulted in millions of | ||||||
23 | dollars in earnings for the county; and |

1 | WHEREAS, David Stolman was the past president of | ||||||
2 | Congregation Beth Judea in Long Grove, chairman of the | ||||||
3 | Northwest Suburban Lawyers and Government Agencies Division of | ||||||
4 | the Jewish United Fund, and a founding member of the Northwest | ||||||
5 | Suburban Jewish Community Center; and | ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, David Stolman was a force of strength for his | ||||||
7 | entire family and his beloved friends, and he was instrumental | ||||||
8 | in teaching others about love of community, activism, and | ||||||
9 | charitable work; he will be remembered as a caring public | ||||||
10 | servant, a devoted family man, and an active community leader; | ||||||
11 | and | ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, David Stolman was the husband of Maureen (Kahn) | ||||||
13 | Stolman for 52 years; the father of Karen (Adam) Firsel and | ||||||
14 | Kenneth (Shelley) Stolman; the grandfather of Emma Firsel, Eli | ||||||
15 | Firsel, Ari Stolman, Brooke Stolman, and Chloe Stolman; the | ||||||
16 | brother of Mark (Ronna) Stolman and the late Leah (late Mel) | ||||||
17 | Bransky; the brother-in-law of Jamie (Carol) Kahn; and the | ||||||
18 | uncle and friend to many; therefore, be it | ||||||
19 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
20 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
21 | David B. Stolman and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
22 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
