SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Hjalmar "Lee" Johnson of Milan, who
4passed away on June 5, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lee Johnson was born to Bernard and Johanna
6(Fruechte) Johnson in Morrison County, Minnesota on April 23,
71932; after high school and a brief time as a hired farm hand,
8he served in the U.S. Marine Corps until 1956; he married
9Dorothy Jane Price in 1954; he received a mechanical
10engineering degree from Pittsburg State College in 1958; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Lee Johnson worked at J.I. Case, Eagle Signal,
12and Harvest Day Bakery, and he retired as a machinist from the
13Rock Island Arsenal in 1994; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Lee Johnson enjoyed golfing and, in recent years,
15keeping fit with daily trips to the YMCA; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Lee Johnson was a devoted husband and father who
17loved spending time with his family and friends; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Lee Johnson was preceded in death by his parents;
19his wife; and his brothers, Willard Johnson, Byron Johnson,
20and Irving Johnson; and

1    WHEREAS, Lee Johnson is survived by his daughters, Corinne
2(Ronald) Moron and Jeannine Gothard; his grandchildren,
3Lindsey (Jason) Launius, Nick (Hannah) Moron, Brett Moron,
4Jared (Daidre) Gothard, and Sierra Gothard; and seven
5great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Hjalmar "Lee" Johnson and extend our sincere condolences to
9his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Lee Johnson as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
