2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Danny Barlow of Chicago, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on July 3, 2024; and | ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Danny Barlow was born to Marlene Barlow and | ||||||
6 | Rapier "Ray" Bond in Chicago on June 13, 1953; he was the | ||||||
7 | firstborn and the older sibling of four brothers, Samuel, | ||||||
8 | Sylvester, Derrick, and Larry, and two sisters, Cheryl and | ||||||
9 | Erica; he committed to his faith at an early age and was | ||||||
10 | baptized at Morning Star Baptist Church; he attended | ||||||
11 | Forestville Upper Grade Center and Dunbar Vocational High | ||||||
12 | School and participated in a variety of activities, which | ||||||
13 | included singing, tap dancing, wrestling, and JROTC, where he | ||||||
14 | achieved the rank of lieutenant colonel and was a battalion | ||||||
15 | commander, and he played the piano, the bugle, and the | ||||||
16 | trumpet; and | ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Danny Barlow married Linda, and they had two | ||||||
18 | children, Danny and William, before the marriage ended and | ||||||
19 | they subsequently became lifelong friends; he married Marie | ||||||
20 | years later, and she brought to the union six children, | ||||||
21 | Tyjuana, Jack, Cyrita, Lamar, Edward, and Lawrence, before | ||||||
22 | they had three children of their own, Vernon, Daniel, and | ||||||
23 | Maria; together, they were the grandparents and |

1 | great-grandparents of more than 50; and | ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Danny Barlow worked as a union carpenter with | ||||||
3 | Carpenters Local 1185, initially joining as a teenager and | ||||||
4 | remaining an active member until his retirement decades later; | ||||||
5 | during his tenure, he helped hundreds join the union, | ||||||
6 | including his sons, grandsons, and numerous friends; he was | ||||||
7 | passionate about his job and enjoyed working on construction | ||||||
8 | sites; he also enjoyed laying tile and became well-known in | ||||||
9 | the flooring industry, working as a flooring consultant for | ||||||
10 | multiple businesses until his passing; and | ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Danny Barlow was always the life of the party and | ||||||
12 | the heart of any gathering; he enjoyed betting on horses, | ||||||
13 | gambling on casino boats or in Las Vegas, cooking, and | ||||||
14 | grilling; and | ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Danny Barlow will be remembered for his work | ||||||
16 | ethic, his leadership, and his infectious joy; therefore, be | ||||||
17 | it | ||||||
18 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
19 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
20 | Danny Barlow and extend our sincere condolences to his family, | ||||||
21 | friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further |
