SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Stephen Charles "Steve" Legue of
4Collison, who passed away on October 12, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Steve Legue, the son of Charles and Thelma
6(Gillespie) Legue, was born in Urbana on July 16, 1951; he
7graduated from Centennial High School in 1969 and then from
8Parkland College; he married Alisa Garrett in Kennekuk County
9Park on March 14, 2009; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Steve Legue was a jack-of-all-trades and worked
11many jobs throughout his life, retiring from Open Road Paving
12in 2018; he truly loved his work and always had a vision and
13could see potential in anything; he had a knack for making
14things look brand new and transforming objects into something
15special; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Steve Legue's love of cars led him to the track in
17Charleston, where he raced from 1969 to 1972; he enjoyed
18working on cars, riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles,
19traveling, reading, and spending time with family and friends;
20after retirement, he served as an election judge and
21discovered a passion for gardening with his wife; and

1    WHEREAS, Steve Legue was preceded in death by his parents
2and one brother; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Steve Legue is survived by his wife, Alisa; his
4children, Angela Rigg, Christina Legue, Paige (Nathan) Rhodes,
5and Quinton (Ashley) Garrett; three grandchildren; several
6siblings; and his beagles, Ellie and Missy; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Stephen Charles "Steve" Legue and extend our sincere
10condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
11him; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Steve Legue as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
