SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Richard Bodner of Oak Park, who passed
4away on May 8, 2024 at the age of 80; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Richard Bodner was born in Sandusky, Ohio on
6March 31, 1944; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Richard Bodner studied chemistry at the
8University of Dayton; he then attended Ohio University and
9Michigan State University, where he obtained his Ph.D. in
10chemistry; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Richard Bodner worked for engineering firms and
12taught chemistry at Triton Community College; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Richard Bodner met his wife, Barbara, at the
14University of Dayton, and they married in 1968; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Richard Bodner and his wife moved to Oak Park in
161973, where they raised their four children; he was known in
17his neighborhood as being able to fix anything and was helpful
18to all; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Richard Bodner spent much of his time on Beaver

1Island, Michigan and enjoyed sailing, skiing, and spending
2time outdoors; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Richard Bodner battled Alzheimer's and was
4passionate in supporting Alzheimer's research; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Richard Bodner is survived by his wife, Barbara
6Bodner; his children, Allison, Caroline, Rebecca, and Timothy;
7his siblings, John (Marilyn) Bodner, Joann (Jim)
8Gildenmeister, Thomas (Rosanne) Bodner, and Mary Pat (Phil)
9Smith; his eleven grandchildren; and his two
10great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Richard Bodner and extend our sincere condolences to his
14family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Richard Bodner as an expression of
18our deepest sympathy.
