SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Daniel Klest of Oak Park, who passed
4away on June 16, 2024 at the age of 53; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Daniel Klest was born on March 8, 1971; he
6attended Longfellow Elementary School and Hawthorne Junior
7High School; he graduated from St. Ignatius College Prep in
81989; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Daniel Klest attended the University of Illinois
10and Columbia College, and he graduated from National Louis
11University in 2021; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Daniel Klest worked for TAWANI Enterprises for
13nearly 28 years, where he most recently served as chief
14technology officer; he was known for his dedication in helping
15those who were less technologically savvy; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Daniel Klest was an avid music listener, and he
17learned to play the bass guitar for the newly formed band,
18Tavern Cats, as part of his growing interest in music; he loved
19live music and especially enjoyed seeing the Blues Fest with
20his wife, Betty; and

1    WHEREAS, Daniel Klest had a lifelong love for soccer,
2playing club and high school soccer throughout his life; he
3was a fan of the Chicago Fire since the start of the franchise;
4he enjoyed theater, experiencing new places, hiking, and
5skydiving with his family; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Daniel Klest is survived by his wife of 28 years,
7Betty (Groenewold); his children, Ray and Envy; his parents,
8Ann and Marty Klest; his sisters, Kate (Seth) Kaufman, Jessie
9(Steve) Washburn, and Becky (Patrick) Walsh; his
10parents-in-law, Ken and Pat; his siblings-in-law, BJ (Melissa)
11Groenewold and Sheryl (the late Jim) Lodolce; and his 12
12nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Daniel Klest and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
16friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Daniel Klest as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
