SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Linda Sue (Loving) Williams, who
4passed away on September 29, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Linda Williams, the daughter of Edward and Alma
6Bland, was born in Chicago on November 13, 1949; she was raised
7in Springfield; she earned a bachelor's degree in liberal arts
8and sciences from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign;
9she married Donald "Don" Williams in 1975; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Linda Williams' professional tenure was served at
11the Illinois Department of Public Aid; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Linda Williams was a dedicated lifelong member of
13Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Linda Williams was a people person who never met
15a stranger, and she and her husband, Don, met many people,
16including senators, governors, presidents, and professional
17boxers and singers; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Linda Williams was considered the go-to person to
19family and friends, as she was passionate about helping them
20reach their goals; and

1    WHEREAS, Linda Williams was known for her beautiful voice,
2which she shared on special occasions, and as a fierce bid
3whist competitor; she also enjoyed shopping and traveling; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Linda Williams loved being surrounded by
5laughter, storytelling, and humor; she will be remembered for
6her love of community and her generosity; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Linda Williams was preceded in death by her
8parents and her brother, Jeff Bland; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Linda Williams is survived by her best friend and
10husband, Don; her fur babies, Twinkle and Drako; her
11sisters-in-law, Doris Blackmon, Betty Ester, Laura Williams,
12and Denise Romney; her brother-in-law, Leroy Williams; her
13nieces and nephews; her sorority sisters and fraternity
14brothers; and a host of other relatives and friends;
15therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18Linda Sue (Loving) Williams and extend our sincere condolences
19to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be
20it further

2presented to the family of Linda Williams as an expression of
3our deepest sympathy.
