SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Virginia L. Terry Hamilton, who passed
4away on October 25, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Virginia Hamilton was born in Salem, Kentucky to
6L. E. Maxceil Markey Terry and Leslie M. Terry on August 11,
71934; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Virginia Hamilton was an accountant clerk with
9the Secretary of State for 34 years, a custodian with HSHS St.
10John's Hospital, and a laundry attendant at Kennedy's Laundry;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, Virginia Hamilton was a member of Union Baptist
13Church, where she sang in the Voices of Union and was a parent
14advisor of the Baptist Youth Fellowship (BYF) and Youth Praise
15Dancers; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Virginia Hamilton was preceded in death by her
17parents and her special grandson, James Hamilton; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Virginia Hamilton is survived by her sons,
19Stephen Terry, Mark A. Hamilton, Troy L. Hamilton, and Dana B.
20(Theresa) Hamilton; her daughter, L. Rennie Hamilton Jones;

1her special son, James Hamilton Sr.; her star-daughter, F.
2Gail Williams; her daughter-in-law, Christina Smith; her
3grandchildren, S. Tashan Williams, Shaun L. Williams, Tara L.
4Hamilton, Sabre T. Bratcher, Leslie R. Jones, Clarc A.
5Hamilton, Shaqur A. Lenzie, Isaiah E. Williams, Christopher S.
6Terry, Crystal L. Terry, and Caleb L.W. Terry; her
7God-grandchildren, Alisha Howerton, Clarrissa Kirkpatrick, and
8Richard Rice; 15 great-grandchildren; three
9God-great-grandchildren; her cousin, Doris Buckley; her
10Birthday War Buddy, Murrine (Lennie) Hamilton; and numerous
11cousins, nieces, nephews, village children, and friends;
12therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Virginia L. Terry Hamilton and extend our sincere condolences
16to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be
17it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Virginia Hamilton as an expression
20of our deepest sympathy.
