SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Caroline Meister of River Forest, who
4passed away on March 18, 2024 at the age of 32; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Caroline Meister was born to John and Jean
6Meister on January 29, 1992; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Caroline Meister was a lifelong resident of River
8Forest, and she attended Oak Park and River Forest High
9School, graduating in 2010; she expressed herself through art,
10theater, and improv; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Caroline Meister graduated from Oberlin College
12in 2014, where she collected many friends and advocated for
13social justice causes; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Caroline Meister led Girls Circles for
15impoverished teens at the YWCA of Lorain County following her
16graduation; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Caroline Meister arrived in California for a
18meditation program in February 2020 and stayed when the
19COVID-19 pandemic shut down travel, a decision that would
20change her life in countless positive ways; and

1    WHEREAS, Caroline Meister was a courageous seeker who
2found her path at the Tassajara Zen Mountain Center in
3northern California; she was excited to tackle all adventures,
4whether they be hiking mountain trails, taking a road trip to
5visit family and friends, or exploring a master's degree
6program in drama therapy and marriage counseling; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Caroline Meister enjoyed baking bread, watching
8comic skits, gardening, and making expressive cards, often
9with dried leaves attached; she loved big ideas and small
10tasks, seeing the world with awe; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Caroline Meister was a loving and compassionate
12leader with strong problem-solving skills and will be
13remembered by her parents with overflowing love and pride; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Caroline Meister is survived by her parents; her
15siblings, Elizabeth and Will; and many aunts, uncles, and
16cousins; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
19Caroline Meister and extend our sincere condolences to her
20family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
21further
