SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
110 ILCS 205/9.30 new

    Amends the Board of Higher Education Act. Provides that a public university in this State, chosen by the Board of Higher Education, shall conduct a study tracking the effect of gambling on Illinois families. Requires the university to report its findings to the General Assembly on or before January 1, 2006. Effective immediately.

1     AN ACT in relation to higher education.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Board of Higher Education Act is amended by
5 adding Section 9.30 as follows:
 
6     (110 ILCS 205/9.30 new)
7     Sec. 9.30. Study on the effect of gambling on families. A
8 public university in this State, chosen by the Board, shall
9 conduct a study tracking the effect of gambling on Illinois
10 families. The Board shall chose whichever university is best
11 equipped to conduct this study and report its choice to the
12 General Assembly within 3 months after the effective date of
13 this amendatory Act of the 93rd General Assembly. The
14 university shall report its findings to the General Assembly on
15 or before January 1, 2006 as provided in Section 3.1 of the
16 General Assembly Organization Act.
 
17     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
18 becoming law.
