SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
20 ILCS 605/605-313 new

    Amends the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Requires the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity to conduct a study on the effects of extending Daylight Savings Time to the months when Illinois normally would observe Central Standard Time and to submit a report of its findings and recommendations to the General Assembly on or before July 1, 2005. Effective immediately.

1     AN ACT concerning economic development.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Department of Commerce and Economic
5 Opportunity Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is
6 amended by adding Section 605-313 as follows:
 
7     (20 ILCS 605/605-313 new)
8     Sec. 605-313. Daylight Savings Time study. The Department
9 must conduct a study on the effects of extending Daylight
10 Savings Time to the months when Illinois normally would observe
11 Central Standard Time. The study must include, without
12 limitation, the effects on utilities, crime, mental health,
13 business, finance, and the general operation of State and local
14 governments. The Department must submit a report of its
15 findings and recommendations to the General Assembly on or
16 before July 1, 2005.
 
17     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
18 becoming law.
