    Amends the School Code. Provides that a school board shall require that principals hold gang awareness and recognition training for teachers before the beginning of each school year. Amends the State Mandates Act to require implementation without reimbursement.

1     AN ACT regarding education.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Sections
5 10-20.39 and 34-18.30 as follows:
 
6     (105 ILCS 5/10-20.39 new)
7     Sec. 10-20.39. Gang awareness training. A school board
8 shall require that principals hold gang awareness and
9 recognition training for teachers before the beginning of each
10 school year.
 
11     (105 ILCS 5/34-18.30 new)
12     Sec. 34-18.30. Gang awareness training. The board shall
13 require that principals hold gang awareness and recognition
14 training for teachers before the beginning of each school year.
 
15     Section 90. The State Mandates Act is amended by adding
16 Section 8.28 as follows:
 
17     (30 ILCS 805/8.28 new)
18     Sec. 8.28. Exempt mandate. Notwithstanding Sections 6 and
19 8 of this Act, no reimbursement by the State is required for
20 the implementation of any mandate created by this amendatory
21 Act of the 93rd General Assembly.
