HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The illegal production and distribution of
3 methamphetamine is a threat to the public safety of this State;
4 and
 
5     WHEREAS, Current laws have not decreased this illegal
6 activity; therefore, be it
 
7     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
8 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE
9 SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that there is created the
10 Methamphetamine Task Force hereinafter referred to as the Task
11 Force consisting of 13 members appointed as follows: (1) one
12 member representing the Office of the Attorney General
13 appointed by the Attorney General; (2) one member representing
14 the Illinois Department of State Police appointed by the
15 Director of State Police; (3) one member representing the
16 Illinois Sheriffs' Association; (4) one member representing
17 the Illinois Retail Merchants Association; (5) one member of
18 the Senate appointed by the President of the Senate; (6) one
19 member of the Senate appointed by the Minority Leader of the
20 Senate; (7) one member of the House of Representatives
21 appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives; (8)
22 one member of the House of Representatives appointed by the
23 Minority Leader of the House of Representatives; (9) one member
24 representing the Illinois Farm Bureau; and (10) four members
25 representing the Office of the Governor appointed by the
26 Governor; and be it further
 
27     RESOLVED, That the Task Force shall choose its chair and
28 such other officers as it deems appropriate; and be it further
 
29     RESOLVED, That the Task Force shall study how to curb the
30 illegal production and distribution of methamphetamine and
31 recommend to the Governor and the General Assembly proposed

1 legislation to accomplish this purpose; and be it further
 
2     RESOLVED, That the members of the Task Force shall receive
3 no compensation for their services as members of the Task Force
4 but may be reimbursed for necessary expenses from
5 appropriations made to the Task Force for that purpose; and be
6 it further
 
7     RESOLVED, That the Task Force shall make its
8 recommendations to the Governor and General Assembly within one
9 year after the members of the Task Force have been appointed.
