ILCON Art. XIII, Sec. 9 new

    Proposes to amend the General Provisions Article of the Illinois Constitution. Provides that a marriage, to be considered valid in this State, must be a union between a man and a woman.

CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT

 
3     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
4 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE
5 SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that there shall be submitted to the
6 electors of the State for adoption or rejection at the general
7 election next occurring at least 6 months after the adoption of
8 this resolution a proposition to add Section 9 to Article XIII
9 of the Illinois Constitution as follows:

GENERAL PROVISIONS

13 SECTION 9. MARRIAGE
14     A marriage, to be considered valid in this State, must be a
15 union between a man and a woman.

SCHEDULE
17     This Constitutional Amendment takes effect upon being
18 declared adopted in accordance with Section 7 of the Illinois
19 Constitutional Amendment Act.
