 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives  are  proud  to  recognize  businesses in the
 4    State of Illinois  that  have  exhibited  a  high  degree  of
 5    excellence; and

 6        WHEREAS,  It has come to our attention that five Illinois
 7    organizations  have  received  recognition  by  The   Lincoln
 8    Foundation    for    Performance    Excellence   (LFPE)   for
 9    demonstrating  improvement  in  their  business   management,
10    processes, and quality; and

11        WHEREAS,  The  recipients of The Lincoln Silver Award for
12    Progress Towards Excellence  for  2003  are  Dana  Brake  and
13    Chassis  in  McHenry  and  Grainger Industrial Supply in Lake
14    Forest;  this  award  commends  organizations  for  continued
15    progress  towards  performance  excellence   in   management,
16    process, and quality; and

17        WHEREAS,  Dana  Brake  and  Chassis is a manufacturer and
18    distributor of high-quality, safety  related  components  for
19    brake  and  steering systems for the automotive industry; the
20    company operates seven locations  and  employs  approximately
21    1000 people in Illinois with additional facilities throughout
22    the  U.S.,  Canada, Mexico, and South America; an emphasis on
23    teamwork, involvement, and empowerment is the foundation  for
24    the  company's  success  and  people  are  viewed as its most
25    important asset; and

26        WHEREAS, W.W. Grainger, Inc., with  2001  sales  of  $4.8
27    billion, is the leading North American industrial distributor
28    of  products  used  by  businesses  to  maintain, repair, and
29    operate their facilities; Grainger shares are traded  on  the
30    New York and Chicago stock exchanges; and

31        WHEREAS,  The  Lincoln  Bronze  Award  for  Commitment to

 1    Excellence was given to John Jay Elementary School  in  Mount
 2    Prospect,  Technivista  in  Highland  Park, and the U.S. Army
 3    Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, at Arsenal  Island;
 4    this  award is bestowed upon companies and organizations that
 5    demonstrate the plan and commitment to implement key business
 6    and management processes that lead  to  a  higher  degree  of
 7    performance excellence; and

 8        WHEREAS,  The mission of John Jay Elementary of Community
 9    Consolidated School District 59 is to build  a  community  of
10    learners  and the school has a vision of success for all; the
11    staff  and  students  are  not  only  committed  to  academic
12    excellence, but also to social responsibility  with  programs
13    and relationships throughout the community; and

14        WHEREAS,    Technivista   is   an   advanced   technology
15    intelligence company utilizing its patented logic methodology
16    to  create  highly  specialized   breakthrough   applications
17    involving   artificial   intelligence,  pattern  recognition,
18    process optimization, and predictive  analysis;  the  systems
19    the  company  is  developing are based on recently discovered
20    logic technology that is radically  different  from  the  way
21    information is generally processed today; and

22        WHEREAS,  The  U.S.  Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island
23    District, covers more than 78,000 square miles;  the  mission
24    of the Rock Island District is to apply engineering expertise
25    to  provide  for  navigation, flood protection, environmental
26    restoration, emergency response, and  to  operate  facilities
27    and lands for the public good; and

28        WHEREAS,  Dana Brake and Chassis was also recognized with
29    the Award for Exemplary Practice for its Student Training and
30    Education Program (STEP), a cooperative effort  between  Dana
31    Brake  and Chassis and McHenry Community High School District
32    156, providing  in-house  degree  completion  and  on-the-job

 1    training for at risk students; and

 2        WHEREAS,   The   Lincoln   Foundation   for   Performance
 3    Excellence  is  a  not-for-profit  organization  that assists
 4    Illinois  organizations  as  they  strive   for   performance
 5    excellence  by  planning  and  implementing  sound management
 6    processes;  the  Foundation  raises  the  statewide  bar   of
 7    competetiveness   by  strengthening  existing  organizations,
 8    attracting new businesses to Illinois, and promoting  private
 9    and  public  sector  cooperation;  each year a select Lincoln
10    Board  of  Examiners  and  Panel  of  Judges   review   award
11    applications  and  determine  which  applicants  have  earned
12    recognition; therefore, be it

13        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
14    NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that
15    we  congratulate  Dana Brake and Chassis, Grainger Industrial
16    Supply, John Jay Elementary School, Technivista, and the U.S.
17    Army Corps of Engineers,  Rock  Island  District,  for  their
18    outstanding  display  of  of improvement in their management,
19    processes, and quality; and be it further

20        RESOLVED, That suitable  copies  of  this  resolution  be
21    presented  to  Dana  Brake  and  Chassis, Grainger Industrial
22    Supply, John Jay Elementary School, Technivista, and the U.S.
23    Army  Corps  of  Engineers,  Rock  Island  District,  as   an
24    expression of our esteem.
