 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The highest award the National  Council  of  the
 3    Boy  Scouts  of  America  can  bestow upon a Scout is that of
 4    Eagle Scout; and

 5        WHEREAS, Pedro Ayala, Jr. of  Boy  Scout  Troop  306,  in
 6    Chicago,  will  receive  the  Eagle Scout Award at a Court of
 7    Honor to be held on June 14,  2003,  at  St.  Agnes  Catholic
 8    Church in Chicago; and

 9        WHEREAS,  In  order to qualify as an Eagle Scout, a young
10    man must demonstrate outstanding qualities of  leadership,  a
11    willingness  to  be of help to others, and superior skills in
12    camping, lifesaving, and first aid; and

13        WHEREAS, During his seven years  with  Troop  306,  Pedro
14    earned 29 merit badges; his Eagle Scout service project was a
15    food  and clothing drive helping hundreds of needy members of
16    the community; and

17        WHEREAS, In earning this high rank, Pedro joins an  elite
18    and  honorable  fraternity of achievers that counts among its
19    members  an  extraordinary  number  of  this  nation's  great
20    leaders in business, government, education, and other sectors
21    of society; and

22        WHEREAS, The achievement  of  the  rank  of  Eagle  Scout
23    reflects  favorably  upon  the  recipient,  his  justly proud
24    family, his Scoutmaster, and his fellow scouts; therefore, be
25    it

26        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES   OF   THE
27    NINETY-THIRD  GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
28    we join his family and friends in congratulating Pedro Ayala,
29    Jr. upon attaining  the  coveted  rank  of  Eagle  Scout  and
30    commend him upon the unswerving dedication to excellence that
31    is the hallmark of the Eagle Scout; and be it further
