HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the
3 State of Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of Jimmy
4 Stewart of Marion on Saturday, January 10, 2004; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Mr. Stewart was born on May 30, 1942, in Marion to
6 Clayton and Lucille (Cash) Stewart; he married Fran Mathis on
7 June 2, 1962 in Creal Springs; she preceded him in death on
8 June 3, 2001; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Mr. Stewart spent 11 years serving the City of
10 Marion as a councilman and rarely missed a meeting; he was a
11 lifelong resident of Marion and enjoyed serving the city; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Mr. Stewart worked for the last four years as the
13 city police and fire commissioner; prior to that, he served as
14 the city street commissioner; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Mr. Stewart was a member and past president of the
16 Lions' Club; he was a member of Marion Main Street and also a
17 member of Second Baptist Church; he was very active in Marion
18 Youth Baseball and Softball, where he coached, umpired, and
19 served on the board; he was also a volunteer at Heartland
20 Regional Medical Center; and
 
21     WHEREAS, Mr. Stewart's greatest passion was his family; his
22 passing has been deeply felt by many, especially his daughter
23 and son-in-law, Scarlett and Mike Phillips; his daughter, Misty
24 Barclay; his daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Mike Boyd; and
25 his daughter and son-in-law, Gabriele and Scott Farner; his
26 grandchildren, Stewart Michael Phillips, Hannah and Grace
27 Boyd, Molly Barclay, Zachary Farner, and Tucker Farner; his
28 sister, Lilly and Arthur "Butch" Boatright; his brothers, Paul
29 and Louise Stewart, Bobby and Liz Stewart, Billy and Terry
30 Stewart, Hal Stewart, Jerry and Toni Stewart, and Jackie and

1 Cheryl Stewart; his many nieces and nephews; and his numerous
2 close friends; therefore, be it
 
3     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
4 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
5 mourn the passing of Jimmy Stewart, and we extend our most
6 sincere sympathy to his friends, family, and all who knew and
7 loved him; and be it further
 
8     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9 presented to the family of Mr. Stewart as an expression of our
10 condolences for their loss.
