 1                    AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 946

 2        AMENDMENT NO.     .  Amend Senate Bill 946  by  replacing
 3    the title with the following:
 4        "AN ACT concerning peace officers."; and

 5    by  replacing  everything  after the enacting clause with the
 6    following:

 7        "Section 5.  The Uniform Peace Officers' Disciplinary Act
 8    is amended by changing Section 3.8 as follows:

 9        (50 ILCS 725/3.8) (from Ch. 85, par. 2561)
10        Sec. 3.8.  Admissions; counsel; verified complaint.
11        (a)  No officer shall be interrogated without first being
12    advised in writing that admissions made in the course of  the
13    interrogation may be used as evidence of misconduct or as the
14    basis  for charges seeking suspension, removal, or discharge;
15    and without first being advised in writing that he or she has
16    the right to counsel of  his  or  her  choosing  who  may  be
17    present   to   advise   him  or  her  at  any  stage  of  any
18    interrogation.
19        (b)  Anyone filing a  complaint  against  a  sworn  peace
20    officer   must  have  the  complaint  supported  by  a  sworn
21    affidavit.
