AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 2395

2     AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 2395, on page 1,
3 line 17, by replacing "Holds (A)" with "Holds (A) Holds"; and
 
4 on page 1, line 19, after "(B)", by inserting "holds"; and
 
5 on page 1, line 27, after "(C)", by inserting "holds or has
6 applied for"; and
 
7 on page 1, by replacing line 29 with the following:
8     "Act and has completed an approved program."; and
 
9 on page 2, by replacing lines 4 through 13 with the following:
10         "(3) Either (i) has completed a program of study before
11     July 1, 2002 that includes course work and supervised
12     clinical experience sufficient in breadth and depth to
13     demonstrate knowledge and skills related to the specific
14     problems, methods and procedures applicable to students
15     with disabilities in a school setting serving ages 3
16     through 21 or (ii) meets the content area standards for
17     speech-language pathologists approved adopted by the State
18     Board of Education, in consultation with the State Teachers
19     Certification Board, (ii) has completed a program in
20     another state, territory, or possession of the United
21     States that is comparable to an approved program of study
22     described in item (i), or (iii) holds a certificate issued

1     by another state, territory, or possession of the United
2     States that is comparable to the school service personnel
3     certificate with a speech-language endorsement. If the
4     requirements described in items (i), (ii), or (iii) of this
5     paragraph (3) have not been met, a person must provide
6     evidence that he or she has completed at least 150 clock
7     hours of supervised experience in speech-language
8     pathology with students with disabilities in a school
9     setting; however, a person who lacks such experience may
10     obtain interim certification as established by the
11     Illinois State Board of Education, in consultation with the
12     State Teacher Certification Board, and shall participate
13     in school-based professional experience of at least 150
14     clock hours to meet this requirement."; and
 
15 on page 3, by replacing lines 13 through 22 with the following:
16         "(2) either (i) has completed a program of study prior
17     to July 1, 2002 that includes course work and supervised
18     clinical experience sufficient in breadth and depth to
19     demonstrate knowledge and skills related to the specific
20     problems, methods, and procedures applicable to students
21     with disabilities in a school setting serving ages 3 to 21
22     or (ii) meets the content-area standards for
23     speech-language pathologists approved adopted by the State
24     Board of Education, in consultation with the State Teacher
25     Certification Board, (ii) has completed a program in
26     another state, territory, or possession of the United

10 on page 4, by replacing lines 6 through 9 with the following:
11 pursuant to a contract must hold:
12         "(1) hold a speech-language pathology license under
13     the Illinois Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology
14     Practice Act or hold or have applied for a temporary
15     license issued under Section 8.1"; and
 
16 on page 4, line 11, after "(2)", by inserting "hold"; and
 
17 on page 4, by replacing lines 30 through 32 with the following:
18 "by the Department certifying that his or her professional
19 experience will be supervised by demonstrating that a licensed
20 speech-language pathologist has agreed to supervise the
21 professional experience of the applicant. A temporary
22 license".
