AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 2617

2     AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 2617 by replacing
3 the title with the following:
4     "AN ACT concerning insurance."; and
 
5 by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the
6 following:
 
7     "Section 5. The Illinois Insurance Code is amended by
8 adding Section 364.2 as follows:
 
9     (215 ILCS 5/364.2 new)
10     Sec. 364.2. Purchase of ophthalmic goods. An insurer may
11 not require a provider, as a condition of participation by the
12 provider, to purchase ophthalmic goods, including but not
13 limited to eyeglass frames, in a quantity or dollar amount in
14 excess of the quantity or dollar amount an enrollee is required
15 to purchase under the terms of the policy.
 
16     Section 10. The Health Maintenance Organization Act is
17 amended by adding Section 4-19 as follows:
 
18     (215 ILCS 125/4-19 new)
19     Sec. 4-19. Purchase of ophthalmic goods. A health
20 maintenance organization may not require a provider, as a
21 condition of participation in the health maintenance

1 organization's health care plan, to purchase ophthalmic goods,
2 including but not limited to eyeglass frames, in a quantity or
3 dollar amount in excess of the quantity or dollar amount an
4 enrollee is required to purchase under the terms of the health
5 care plan.
 
6     Section 15. The Limited Health Service Organization Act is
7 amended by adding Section 3010 as follows:
 
8     (215 ILCS 130/3010 new)
9     Sec. 3010. Purchase of ophthalmic goods. An organization
10 may not require a provider, as a condition of participation in
11 the organization's limited health care plan, to purchase
12 ophthalmic goods, including but not limited to eyeglass frames,
13 in a quantity or dollar amount in excess of the quantity or
14 dollar amount an enrollee is required to purchase under the
15 terms of the limited health care plan.
 
16     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
17 becoming law.".
