 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members  of  the  Senate  of  the  State  of
 3    Illinois  were  saddened  to learn of the death of Richard J.
 4    Hackett of Mount Prospect in February of 2003; and

 5        WHEREAS, Mr. Hackett was a former Cook County  prosecutor
 6    and  had served as an Elk Grove Township trustee; he had been
 7    active with the township's Republican  organization,  serving
 8    as  precinct captain, and he was appointed in 1999 to the Elk
 9    Grove Township board; two years later, he was elected to  the
10    same position; and

11        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Hackett  graduated  from Loyola University
12    with a degree in business administration and  then  continued
13    his  education  at DePaul University, where he earned a Juris
14    Doctorate; and

15        WHEREAS, Mr. Hackett valiantly served his country in  the
16    United  States  Air Force Judge Advocate General's office; he
17    was stationed in the Philippines; and

18        WHEREAS, Following an honorable discharge from  the  U.S.
19    Air Force, he joined the Cook County State's Attorneys office
20    in the 1960s; he retired as a supervising prosecutor 30 years
21    later; and

22        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Hackett  served  as president of the board
23    representing combined School Districts 57 and 59; he  was  on
24    the advisory council of the Salvation Army; and

25        WHEREAS,  The  passing of Richard Hackett has been deeply
26    felt by  many,  especially  his  wife,  Joan,  and  his  son,
27    Christopher; therefore, be it

28        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
29    ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the  passing
30    of  Richard J. Hackett, and we extend to his family, friends,

 1    community, and  all  who  knew  and  loved  him  our  deepest
 2    sympathy; and be it further

 3        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
 4    presented  to  the  family  of  Richard  J.  Hackett  as   an
 5    expression of our sincere condolences.
