SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 were saddened to learn of the tragic death of Detective William
4 "Wally" Rolniak of Riverdale; and
 
5     WHEREAS, William "Wally" Rolniak was born March 7, 1964 in
6 Chicago and grew up in Dolton; he graduated from Thornton
7 Township High School on June 10, 1982; and
 
8     WHEREAS, He served the United States Air Force from
9 September 1983 through April 1987 before receiving honorable
10 discharge; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Detective Rolniak joined the Riverdale Police
12 Department in 1992 and held the rank of Detective for the last
13 6 years; during his career with the police department he
14 received several commendations and was recognized as a very
15 effective and sensitive individual when dealing with people;
16 and
 
17     WHEREAS, Detective Rolniak was a 14-year veteran of the
18 department and was the first Riverdale police officer killed in
19 the line of duty; and
 
20     WHEREAS, He was a good police officer, a good family man,
21 the coach of his daughter's softball team, and a fan of the
22 Fighting Illini, the Fighting Irish, and the White Sox; and
 
23     WHEREAS, The passing of Detective William "Wally" Rolniak
24 will be deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Maureen; his
25 daughters, Nicole and Denise; his parents, William and Karen
26 Rolniak; and his three sisters, Debbie Rizzi, Michelle
27 Schaller, and Stacey Koontz; therefore, be it
 
28     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL

1 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the tragic
2 passing of Detective William "Wally" Rolniak along with all who
3 knew and loved him and extend our sincere condolences to his
4 family, friends, and community; and be it further
 
5     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6 presented to the family of Detective William "Wally" Rolniak as
7 an expression of our deepest sympathy.
