Appropriates $26,099,148 for Fiscal Year 2007 for the ordinary and contingent expenses of the State Appellate Defender. Effective July 1, 2006.

    AN ACT concerning appropriations.

 

        Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

 

 

  Section 5.  The following named amounts, or so much of those amounts as may be necessary, respectively, for the objects and purposes named, are appropriated from the General Revenue Fund to meet the ordinary and contingent expenses of the Office of the State Appellate Defender.

    Section 10.  The following named amounts, or so much of those amounts as may be necessary, respectively, are appropriated from the General Revenue Fund to the Office of the State Appellate Defender for the ordinary and contingent expenses of the Post Conviction Unit.

  Section 15.  The following named amounts, or so much of those amounts as may be necessary, respectively, for the objects and purposes named, are appropriated  to the office of the State Appellate Defender for expenses related to federally assisted programs to work on systemic sentencing issues appeals cases to which the agency is appointed.

    Payable from General Revenue Fund.............. $80,000

 

  Section 20.  The sum of $3,218,041, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is appropriated from the Capital Litigation Trust Fund to the Office of the State Appellate Defender for expenses incurred in providing assistance to trial attorneys under item (c)(5) of Section 10 of the State Appellate Defender Act.

 

  Section 25.  The sum of $250,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is appropriated from the General Revenue Fund to the Office of the State Appellate Defender for the ordinary and contingent expenses of the Expungement Program.

 

  Section 30.  The sum of $53,100, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is appropriated from the General Revenue Fund to the Office of the State Appellate Defender to provide statewide training to Public Defenders under the Public Defender Training Program.

 

  Section 35.  The sum of $200,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is appropriated from the General Revenue Fund to the Office of the State Appellate Defender to enhance the capability of public defenders in rural counties to effectively represent their clients in appropriate cases, making available to them expert witnesses and investigative services under the Rural Public Defender Services Program.

 

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1, 2006.
