SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
20 ILCS 2605/2605-25   was 20 ILCS 2605/55a-1
20 ILCS 2605/2605-53 new

    Amends the Department of State Police Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Creates the Division of Domestic Violence Prevention within the Department to investigate domestic violence offenses, train police statewide in domestic violence prevention techniques, and track statistical data on domestic violence in Illinois.

1     AN ACT concerning government.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Department of State Police Law of the Civil
5 Administrative Code of Illinois is amended by changing Section
6 2605-25 and by adding Section 2605-53 as follows:
 
7     (20 ILCS 2605/2605-25)  (was 20 ILCS 2605/55a-1)
8     Sec. 2605-25. Department divisions. The Department is
9 divided into the Illinois State Police Academy and 4 divisions:
10 the Division of Operations, the Division of Forensic Services,
11 the Division of Administration, and the Division of Internal
12 Investigation, and the Division of Domestic Violence
13 Prevention.

18 The Division of Domestic Violence Prevention shall investigate
19 domestic violence offenses in Illinois. The Division shall also
20 be responsible for training police officers statewide in
21 domestic violence prevention techniques and for tracking
22 statistical data on domestic violence in Illinois.
