SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
20 ILCS 2310/2310-424 new

    Amends the Department of Public Health Powers and Duties Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Requires the Department of Public Health to designate a staff person to handle men's health issues currently unaddressed or inadequately addressed by the Department. Specifies the staff person's duties. Effective immediately.

1     AN ACT concerning State government.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Department of Public Health Powers and
5 Duties Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is
6 amended by adding Section 2310-424 as follows:
 
7     (20 ILCS 2310/2310-424 new)
8     Sec. 2310-424. Men's Health Issues.
9     (a) The Department of Public Health shall designate a
10 member of its staff to handle men's health issues not currently
11 or adequately addressed by the Department.
12     (b) The staff person's duties shall include, but not be
13 limited to, the following:
14         (1) Assisting in the assessment of the health needs of
15     men in the State.
16         (2) Recommending treatment methods and programs that
17     are sensitive and reference materials to service
18     providers, organizations, and other agencies.
19         (3) Promoting awareness of men's health concerns and
20     encouraging, promoting, and aiding the establishment of
21     men's services.
22         (4) Providing adequate and effective opportunities for
23     men to express their views on Department policy
24     development, program implementation, and interdepartmental
25     coordination of men's services.
 
26     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
27 becoming law.
