    Amends the Illinois Marriage and Dissolution of Marriage Act. Requires the court to determine whether counseling is appropriate for a child who is involved in a custody proceeding. Authorizes the court to order counseling and apportion the cost between the parties.

    AN ACT concerning families.

    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

represented in the General Assembly:

    Section 5. The Illinois Marriage and Dissolution of 
5
Marriage Act is amended  by adding Section 604.3 as follows:

    (750 ILCS 5/604.3  new)

    Sec. 604.3. Counseling. The court shall determine whether 
8
counseling is appropriate for a child who is involved in a 
9
custody proceeding. If the court determines that counseling is 
10
appropriate, the court may order counseling and may apportion 
11
the costs between the parties.
