SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
625 ILCS 5/18c-7402.2 new

    Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that it is unlawful for a railroad or any of its employees to interfere in any way with a railroad employee's effort to obtain first aid or medical treatment for an injury suffered in the course of employment. Provides that it is unlawful for a railroad or any of its employees to discipline or threaten to discipline an employee for requesting treatment for a job-related injury. Provides that a violation is a business offense punishable by a fine of not more than $10,000.

1     AN ACT concerning transportation.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding
5 Section 18c-7402.2 as follows:
 
6     (625 ILCS 5/18c-7402.2 new)
7     Sec. 18c-7402.2. Employee first aid or medical treatment;
8 interference prohibited.
9     (a) It is unlawful for a railroad or person employed by a
10 railroad to:
11         (1) deny, delay, or interfere with medical treatment or
12     first aid treatment to an employee of a railroad who has
13     been injured during employment; or
14         (2) discipline or threaten discipline to an employee of
15     a railroad who has been injured during employment for
16     requesting medical treatment or first aid treatment.
17     (b) A violation of this Section is a business offense and
18 is punishable by a fine of not more than $10,000 for each
19 violation.
