25 ILCS 130/10-6   from Ch. 63, par. 1010-6

    Amends the General Assembly Organization Act and the Legislative Commission Reorganization Act of 1984. Requires an electronic copy of all reports filed with the General Assembly to be provided to the Legislative Research Unit. Requires the Unit to post reports on the General Assembly's website.

1     AN ACT concerning State government.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The General Assembly Organization Act is amended
5 by changing Section 3.1 as follows:
 
6     (25 ILCS 5/3.1)  (from Ch. 63, par. 3.1)
7     Sec. 3.1. Whenever any law or resolution requires a report
8 to the General Assembly, that reporting requirement shall be
9 satisfied by filing one copy of the report with each of the
10 following: the Speaker, the Minority Leader and the Clerk of
11 the House of Representatives and the President, the Minority
12 Leader and the Secretary of the Senate and the Legislative
13 Research Unit. In addition, an electronic copy must be filed
14 with the Legislative Research Unit. Additional copies shall be
15 filed with the State Government Report Distribution Center for
16 the General Assembly as required under paragraph (t) of Section
17 7 of the State Library Act.

19     Section 10. The Legislative Commission Reorganization Act
20 of 1984 is amended by changing Section 10-6 as follows:
 
21     (25 ILCS 130/10-6)  (from Ch. 63, par. 1010-6)
22     Sec. 10-6. Each quarter of the calendar year the
23 Legislative Research Unit shall prepare and provide to each
24 member of the General Assembly abstracts and indexes of reports
25 filed with it as reports to the General Assembly. With such
26 abstracts and indexes the Legislative Research Unit shall
27 include a convenient form by which each member of the General
28 Assembly may request, from the State Government Report
29 Distribution Center in the State Library, copies of such
30 reports as the member may wish to receive. For the purpose of

1 receiving reports filed under this Section the Legislative
2 Research Unit shall succeed to the powers and duties formerly
3 exercised by the Legislative Council.
4     After the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 94th
5 General Assembly, the Legislative Research Unit shall, with the
6 assistance of the Legislative Information System, post an
7 electronic version of each report it receives on the General
8 Assembly's website.
