5 ILCS 490/68 new

    Amends the State Commemorative Dates Act. Designates September 1 of each year as American Indian Heritage Day to be observed throughout the State as a day to honor the rich history, culture, and heritage of American Indians.

1     AN ACT concerning State government.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The State Commemorative Dates Act is amended by
5 adding Section 68 as follows:
 
6     (5 ILCS 490/68 new)
7     Sec. 68. American Indian Heritage Day. September 1 of each
8 year is designated as American Indian Heritage Day to be
9 observed throughout the State as a day to honor the rich
10 history, culture, and heritage of American Indians.
