SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
605 ILCS 5/6-130   from Ch. 121, par. 6-130

    Amends the Illinois Highway Code. Provides that the roads forming a part of a township road district include those roads maintained by the district, regardless of whether or not those roads are owned by the township. Effective immediately.

1     AN ACT concerning transportation.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Illinois Highway Code is amended by changing
5 Section 6-130 as follows:
 
6     (605 ILCS 5/6-130)  (from Ch. 121, par. 6-130)
7     Sec. 6-130. Notwithstanding any other provision of this Act
8 to the contrary, no township road district may continue in
9 existence if the roads forming a part of the district do not
10 exceed a total of 4 miles in length. For purposes of this
11 Section, the roads forming a part of a township road district
12 include those roads maintained by the district, regardless of
13 whether or not those roads are owned by the township. On the
14 first Tuesday in April of 1975, or of any subsequent year next
15 succeeding the reduction of a township road system to a total
16 mileage of 4 miles or less, each such township road district
17 shall, by operation of law, be abolished. The roads comprising
18 that district at that time shall thereafter be administered by
19 the township board of trustees by contracting with the county,
20 a municipality or a private contractor. The township board of
21 trustees shall assume all taxing authority of a township road
22 district abolished under this Section.

24     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
25 becoming law.
