SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

9991 ILCS 5/13009 new ILCON Art. XIII, Sec. 9 new

    Proposes to amend the General Provisions Article of the Illinois Constitution to provide that a marriage can only be between one man and one woman. Effective upon being declared adopted.

CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT

 
3     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
4 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE
5 SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that there shall be submitted to the
6 electors of the State for adoption or rejection at the general
7 election next occurring at least 6 months after the adoption of
8 this resolution a proposition to add Section 9 to Article XIII
9 of the Illinois Constitution as follows:

ARTICLE XIII

GENERAL PROVISIONS

12     (ILCON Art. XIII, Sec. 9 new)
13 SECTION 9. SAME SEX MARRIAGE
14     Only marriage between one man and one woman shall be valid
15 or recognized in Illinois.

SCHEDULE
17     This Constitutional Amendment takes effect upon being
18 declared adopted in accordance with Section 7 of the Illinois
19 Constitutional Amendment Act.
