HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The House of Representatives recognizes that
methamphetamine abuse is best treated by the efforts of many
community agencies and entities, including, but not limited to,
law enforcement agencies, the courts, prosecuting and defense
attorneys, probation officers, treatment providers (both
secular and religious), local businesses, and family and
friends of the abusers; and

WHEREAS, The Department of Public Health would best be
suited to develop a model community coalition protocol to
combat methamphetamine abuse; and

WHEREAS, Many counties in northern Illinois have not
experienced the devastation that methamphetamine abuse has
wrought upon the counties of central and southern Illinois; and

WHEREAS, These northern Illinois counties may not be aware
of the benefits of community-based efforts to combat
methamphetamine abuse; and

WHEREAS, A statewide model of community coalition efforts
to combat methamphetamine abuse will provide those counties
with the knowledge and wherewithal to combat methamphetamine
abuse more effectively; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
we urge the Department of Public Health to develop a model
community coalition effort to combat methamphetamine abuse;
and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to
the Director of Public Health.
