HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The Journalism Education Association and the
3 National Scholastic Press Association will hold their JEA/NSPA
4 Fall National High School Journalism Convention in 2005 in
5 Chicago from November 10 through November 13; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Highlights of the convention include keynote
7 addresses by some of the nation's top newsmakers and reporters;
8 more than 200 learning sessions in newspaper, yearbook,
9 photography, advising, press law, and more; special
10 pre-convention and issue seminars; media and sight-seeing
11 tours to top attractions and publications; on-site critiques
12 and competitions, including the NSPA Best of Show and JEA
13 Write-off competitions; information sharing at "Break with a
14 Pro" and "Swap Shop"; and a trade show exhibit hall; and
 
15     WHEREAS, This convention is the largest fall gathering of
16 student journalists in America; therefore, be it
 
17     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
18 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
19 in honor of the JEA/NSPA Fall National High School Journalism
20 Convention, we do hereby proclaim November 10, 2005, through
21 November 13, 2005, as "High School Journalism Days" in the
22 State of Illinois; and be it further
 
23     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
24 presented to the Journalism Education Association and the
25 National Scholastic Press Association as an expression of our
26 respect and esteem and with best wishes for a successful
27 convention.
