HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The Danville First Baptist High School girls'
3 basketball team won its first State championship this year; and
 
4     WHEREAS, The team had a slow start to the season, but
5 finished out the Illinois Association of Christian Schools
6 girls' State tournament with confidence; and
 
7     WHEREAS, The team beat Lake County Christian of Waukegan
8 with a score of 54 to 40 and Rockford Baptist with a score of 46
9 to 19 to take home the championship; Becca Leary, a team
10 captain, earned the title of Most Valuable Player for the
11 tournament; Courtney Foley, the other team captain, and Cortney
12 Keagle made the all-tournament team; and
 
13     WHEREAS, First Baptist, which has 37 students in the high
14 school, finished with a record of 8 wins and 12 losses for the
15 season; many of the regular season games were against much
16 larger schools, preparing the team to play to their full
17 potential when meeting schools of equivalent size; and
 
18     WHEREAS, The coach for the team is Melissa Anderson; the
19 members of the team are Sarah Jones, Courtney Foley, Becca
20 Leary, Bethany Wasson, Cortney Keagle, Brittani Wasson, Taylor
21 Johnson, Ashley Arnold, and Laurissa Pearson; therefore, be it
 
22     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
23 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
24 we congratulate the team members, Coach Melissa Anderson, and
25 all of Danville First Baptist High School on winning the
26 Illinois Association of Christian Schools girls' basketball
27 State championship; and be it further
 
28     RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
29 presented to each of the team members and Coach Anderson as an

2 the team's continued success.
