HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the
3 State of Illinois learned with sadness of the death of Vernona
4 "Nonie" Harrell on Saturday, May 7, 2005; and
 
5     WHEREAS, She was born October 12, 1956, in Chicago, the
6 third of six children born to the union of Vernon and Eileen
7 Harrell; her father, Vernon, preceded her in death; and
 
8     WHEREAS, She received her education at Yale Primary and
9 Upper Grade Center and Parker High School; she was an advocate
10 of education and encouraged her children to get the best
11 possible; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Vernona met Ronald Sims, the love of her life, in
13 1963, but didn't realize it until 1974; together, they raised
14 two children, Jimmy and Rhonda; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Ms. Harrell had been employed by the Cook County
16 State's Attorney's Office since 1984; as an Administrative
17 Supervisor, she was loved and respected by her co-workers; and
 
18     WHEREAS, She became a member of Salem Baptist Church in
19 1994; she was a very positive, strong, and caring individual
20 who always put others before herself; and
 
21     WHEREAS, The passing of Vernona "Nonie" Harrell has been
22 deeply felt by many, especially her mother, Eileen Harrell; her
23 very special significant other, Ronald Sims; her children,
24 Jimmy (Trisha) and Rhonda (Dion); her sisters, Valerie Gordon
25 (Loren) and Lynette Flowers (Louis); her brothers, Vernon Jr.,
26 Kenneth (Faye), and David (Denitra); her grandchildren, Eric,
27 Moneika, Jimmy, Brianna, and James; and her many aunts, uncles,
28 nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it

1     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
2 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
3 we mourn the passing of Vernona Harrell, and we extend our
4 deepest sympathy to her family, friends, and all who knew and
5 loved her; and be it further
 
6     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7 presented to her family as an expression of our sincere
8 condolences.
